In My World

I hope you are enjoying the holidays.  Here is a little peek at what has been happening in my little world:

{A surprise from Mr. Belle Maison Et Moi!}

{Our tree, pre-ornaments}

{Our gift wrap details...my favorite color scheme and tags out of the bunch}

{Piglet's plush new bed from my parents. She couldn't be cozier}

{Gigi's elegant new coat from my parents. She looks more beautiful in the snow, it makes the red pop!}

{A homemade beet salad in attempts to erase all the indulgent eating and to start the new year right...}

See you tomorrow with some New Year's inspiration!

Closet Cleanout

I finally completed spring closet cleaning...a little late? Yes, considering autumn is in full swing here, but I know it's spring out there for some of my blog friends!  After filling multiple bags for donation with shoes, clothing, decor, and handbags, I have plenty of space for some new items that I've had my mind and eyes on for quite some time...

Shopping my closet: Fall 2011 trends

While looking through my closet to see if I own any  items on trend for fall 2011, I found a few pieces that might just work with the addition of some vibrant trendy pieces.

Fall 2011 key pieces that I already own (pictured below): Lace (on this black BCBG dress), black and white menswear (white collar shirt with black ribbon necklace), cobalt blue necklace, graphic striped sweater, sequin pumps, fur (faux) capelet coat, and vintage jewel earrings. Looking dull so far...

Time to add some color to this mix! The trends I am coveting most are a mustard colored dress, red lipstick, & red pants:

Black and White Decor: Coco & Igor style

I love black and white, have you guessed that yet?  Although black and white are neutral, to me, they make an impact without screaming like many of the vivid hues found in homes today.  Their absence of loudness, for lack of a better word, allow accents items to become the center of attention; it might be a family photo, a brightly colored pillow, or even a pattern.  Have you ever noticed how a pattern maintains it's integrity in black and white?  It still stands out and is the center of attention whereas, a pattern in colors, seems somewhat diluted at times because it's all about the color.  Don't get me wrong, I like a pop of color here and there, but prefer the clean canvas and limited visual clutter that black and white provides.  For you Rolling Stones fans out there, my father's favorite song to sing when my husband and I began decorating our house was, you guessed it, Paint it Black!  I have to laugh every time I hear it play on the radio.

Let's explore the world of black and white decor through photos from the movie Coco & Igor:
