Distressed Patina Nightstand Revamp

Our vintage carrera marble top nightstands are preparing for a makeover.  But we're struggling to decide what color to finish and distress to use on the wooden base.  Our bedroom is a medium grey right now (soon to be white), so my thoughts for finishing the base of the nightstands are distressed, french grey or distressed white.  Here are the nightstands along with some photos of paint colors and finishes being considered.  We need your help!!

{Our nightstands pre-revamp}

Should we consider a distressed french grey?

Or a distressed white finish?

Please share your opinion and if you have suggestions for another color or finish, please share that too!!
Merci! Alicia

Destination Grey Towers: A hidden gem

Thought I would share some beautiful photos from a trip last summer to Grey Towers in Milford, PA.  We were pleasantly surprised and transported to another world as we drove up the long, winding driveway:

 Hope you will visit this landmark soon.  More beautiful and magical than the pictures reveal.

Ice Ice Baby

When the scorching summer sun is as relentless as it has been in New York lately, a girl has to get creative with ways to stay cool.  Afterall, the delights of frozen grapes and chilled champagne only go so far.  But what if we drape ourselves in glistening diamonds to keep our cool when the temperature soars?  A girl can dream...

Pink interiors

Recently while listening to Living in Style on Martha Stewart's Sirius satellite radio channel, the discussion turned to using pink paint in unexpected places.  One specific idea they mentioned was painting the ceiling a very pale pink to create a candlelit glow to a room.  A brilliantly creative idea for those who fear painting an entire room pink or for those whose loved ones are opposed to pink paint anywhere in the house (my husband, for example).  I love the idea of a pale pink ceiling, but also dream of having a soft pink office space within our house.  Either way, I found some beautiful photos of pink interiors that inspire me to keep my dream alive.  Enjoy!

{I am speechless...look at this ceiling!!}

{warm pink walls, trim, and ceiling create a subtle, seamless look}

{A cool pink tone with dark accents prevents a saccharin look. Très chic!}

{pastel pink walls with a taupe ceiling...less than boring with the mirrored accents!}

{If not a pink office, I could easily love a pink library}

So many shades of pink and more sophisticated than most would imagine. Au revoir, Alicia

Lace All Over the Place

I've always loved lace and am so happy it's making such a regular appearance in the fashion world lately.  Lace always lends a pretty, feminine touch but also edginess depending on how it's styled.

For a bit of high fashion edge, these Valentino shoes are stellar:

{Valentino Lace Court Shoes}

 {Sweet & feminine Anthropologie dress}

{In love with this lace flower necklace from a super talented Etsy seller}

Hope these photos inspire you to add some lace to your wardrobe.  Have a lovely day, Alicia

1st Wedding Anniversary: A stroll down memory lane...

Today is our 1 year wedding anniversary!  How quickly the time passes.  Excited to dine al fresco tonight overlooking the cliffside and glistening blue lake.  Below are some favorites from my bridal shower, wedding, and honeymoon as well as a few things I'd add if we were to get married all over again:

{Bridal shower cake}

{ A glimpse of the bridal shower patisseries}

{Finger sandwiches and other savory goodies}

{Handmade for me: feather hair fascinator birdcage veil}

{Our honeymoon  hôtel}

And if I could get married all over again I would...

{Add this sash to an even simpler wedding gown than my own (which was super simple)}

Favorite Four

Joys of the week:

{A surprise lavender bouquet left for me}

{A vintage milkglass butter dish I finally decided to keep and not sell in my Etsy shop}

{Homemade pizza...so much tastier and healthier than take away}

{Discovering a 3 oz martini glass (that was in my grandmother's glassware) to properly measure my portions a la The Martini Diet.  A fun read that covers the basics of living indulgently while striving to be our best version of ourselves through portion control and elegant exercise}

 Do the last two items seem contradictory?! I know, I know...all in good fun.  Have a restful weekend.  Alicia
